Control Arm Cam Bolts - Mancini Racing

This refers to how the tire tilts forward or backward or if your axle is leaning forward or backwards causing the tire to lean that way. This can happen when you lift the vehicle and do not upgrade to longer control arms. On the control is an eccentric bolt on the axle lower control arm mount side. Lifting your Dodge Ram truck makes the axle tilt forward even more. Other components do not like this new orientation and may wear faster. You may also have issues with the drive-train. So you should fix this problem as quickly as possible. The use of our control arms either fixed or adjustable will allow you to re-align your Ram and fix caster issues. Replacing control arm bolts is always a good idea to make sure your new arms are secure.

Control Arm bolts

Well, I need to replace the ball joints on my 2001 2wd ranger xlt and I've searched through the posts and found alot of great information on ball joint replacement, but I think I will need to buy a socket for the upper control arm bolts. Does anyone know what size I need to get? Are the nut and the bolt the same size? My metric sockets are missing a few sizes.

Also, while I'm at it, can the little plastic rivet thingies that hold the splash guard on be removed and re-used, or do I need to cut them off and get new ones?

I got a really good deal on this truck because it needed some work and I can't wait to get it on the road!

Another option is to cut off the mounts and reposition and weld to the axle. But most of us do not have the ability to do this and taking this to a shop may cost just as much as replacing the arms. See our article about changing control arm bolts – tips and tricks.
